First Sentence:
Moneen saw The Mark on her bedroom door after another lousy morning at work.

Story:

When Moneen came back from work, she got the surprise of her life. The past had caught with her eventually and now her life was in danger.
Moneen had not thought about The mark since she had left Tulesberg, her home town. But now she knew she had to finally confront the situation. She had to call her best friend Joza, with whom she had not talked from the past 20 years and together they would have to deal with The mark.
She had to do it before The Mark kills her.
What was this Mark that had suddenly appeared on her bedroom door?
What had Moneen and Joza done to deserve this retribution?
Were the able to survive their fate?
My Views:

The Mark is a short horror occult story by Watt Morgan.
The theme of people trying their hands at something occult and then paying a price for it has been done a lot of times. But since the subject is so fascinating, people keep exploring it again and again and personally i don’t really mind it. I guess it is because all of us at one point in our life had tried or thought about trying something occult to deal with our problems that were plaguing us at that time. And when we read such stories we kind of see ourselves in those characters. I know i do. Do you?
This book is on similar theme. The book is about two friends Moneen Kuil and Joza and what they had done more than 20 years ago. It starts with Moneen seeing The Mark etched on her door and getting scared out of her wits. This grips you as a reader and you want to know what had happened to Moneen to make her so afraid.
From here the story moves too and fro in time and the reader gets to know what had happened and how these two friends had reached this juncture. Meanwhile, something bad is after Moneen and Joza and you want to see if these two would survive it. You know this is their last fight and this forms an exciting premise which forces you to keep flipping the pages.
I enjoyed reading this story. The suspense in the story keeps you hooked till the end. The ending too leaves you guessing. The only thing i would say is that Joza did forget about the Glue of life spell. If you are thinking what does it mean, then you must read the story.
If you want to a read a good short story then do give it a try.
I would love reading other books by the author.
Rating: 3.5/5
