In 1952 Ernesto Che guevara with his friend Alberto Granado decided to
travel through Latin America on Alberto’s bike La Pedorosa- the mighty
one. This book is the account of that journey. In the beginning of this
journey Ernesto was just a 23 year old guy who was studying to be
doctor and who wanted a little adventure before finishing his medical
degree. But this journey made him acquainted with the conditions of his
countrymen lives, that was marred with poverty and dejection.
This is supposed to starting point from which Ernesto Che Guevara became what he is now and here it was shown that he expressed his idea of a united Latin America for the first time.
The book was an entertaining read and i loved the descriptions of the
lives of people. It really showed that the guy cared about the people.
The book clearly depicted his transformation from a happy go lucky guy to a mature man.
The only problem that i face was in the description of the Inca religion
and the other monuments. I couldn’t connect to it as i’m not Latin American. So in a way it was my problem as i couldn’t relate to the references made in the book. But the description of poor and their sufferings were no different then the sufferings of the people here. It makes one realize that we may be culturally different, we may speak in a different language but our essential core is same and that transcends the cultural and religious differences.
But apart from that i really
liked the book and i would be looking more into of this man who gave so much unifying his people.
