It was Della Street , Perry Mason’s confidential secretary, who first called the lawyer’s attention to the glamorous ghost.
When Perry mason’s attention is drawn to a news item about a glamorous ghost by Della Street, he finds himself interested in the weird news. A woman, wearing only a diaphanous clothing, had made a seductive come on to a guy which in turn had enraged his girlfriend. The girl friend had chased the wraith but had been unsuccessful in apprehending her. Although, the screaming of both the supposed ghost and the enraged girlfriend had caused the neighbors to call the police who had eventually caught the ghost and taken her into custody. The ghost had turned out to be a woman who had no idea what she was doing there. She had lost her memory.
Perry Mason takes up the case. He is told that Eleanor had gone to Yuma with one Douglas Hepner and they had been married there. But that was the last they had heard of her before this incident happend.
Why was Eleanor in the streets?
Has she really lost her memory? And if it’s really a ploy to escape from a scrape then what has she done now?
Why has Olga come to Perry? Does she believe that Eleanor must have got herself involved in a criminal activity that requires Perry mason’s help?
Perry Mason is a criminal lawyer and his cases form the subject of this series. Although, this is 44th book in the series but it was the first one that i have read. And i really enjoyed the book. The story held my interest till the end without ever being boring in any way. The story was fast paced and had enough twists and turns to keep me glued to the book.
I’ll be reading more books of the series. And if you need a mystery to keep you entertained then this book sure fits the bill and you’ll not be disappointed.
