Story:
James is an author who has not been able to write for the past three years. He is willing to do anything to get over his writer’s block. His book is stuck and so on advice of his publisher he has decided to go to a secluded cabin.
The cabin is in the middle of nowhere and James believes that in that cabin he would have no other distractions to keep him away from his writing.
But there things waiting for him there. Things James is unaware of.
Was James able to overcome his writer’s block?
My Take:
Does writer’s block really exist? This is the question that has bothered writers and readers alike. Some authors acknowledge it and some say there’s nothing like a writer’s block. It’s all in your mind. I don’t know what truth is but this story poses another question to it’s readers. What if the author suffering from writers block has to write to save his life? Would he able to get over his block and write?
I liked the premise of this story. The story is fast paced and as a reader you are intrigued by the things happening in and around the cabin. You want to know why they are happening and how this would end for James
The only thing i didn’t like about this story is it’s ending. The way author has written the ending it did manage to suprsise me but it also accentuated the feeling of incompletness of this story.
As the story ends we get to know the reason behind the things that were happening to James but we are not told how the person responsible was able to create those circumstances. I think it would have been better if we were told about it. It would have made things a lot more clearer. Plus, once i finished the story i couldn’t help but wonder why one would use such great powers for such a small task(to force an author to write). Personally, i would not.
